DS106: What They Might Have Done in Social Media

Here’s a Twister profile for my favorite president, Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt. I always liked how he realized the value of the environment and the preservation of American land. Being an Environmental Studies major, I always really appreciated how forward thinking he was in regards to natural resources.

The only thing about this assignment was that I couldn’t save the Twister as a PDF file because it wouldn’t work for some reason, and I couldn’t just Save Image As and expect for WordPress to upload it properly, so I had to use the old “PrtScr” trick. After cropping the image to get rid of any unnecessary content, I applied the changes and then saved the image so that I could just upload it as a regular image.

I wasn’t sure who to use as the historical figure at first. I considered one of my idols, Rachel Carson, or to go even farther back and use someone like Lief Erikson. Eventually, however, I just decided to go with Theodore and his famous quote, “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” I wanted to change it up and make the quote have a more modern twist to it, but since the rules said to make it “historically accurate”, I omitted that part in the image.
